When towing a trailer, caravan or boat with a passenger vehicle, four wheel drive, people mover or light commercial vehicle there is one major issue that often appears to be over looked.
Maintaining the correct load on the tow ball can mean the difference between a safe trip and disaster. It is generally accepted that approximately 10% of the total trailer weight should rest on the draw bar of the towing vehicle to prevent the trailer swaying especially when travelling down hills. If this condition is ignored it can create an uncontrollable situation resulting in a serious accident.
JLSN Pty Ltd have developed a device that can be simply fitted to most 50mm trailer couplings that indicates the approximate downward force on the tow ball at a glance to assist in the safe loading of a trailer caravan or boat before you travel.
This device can be simply fitted by the owner/operator in minutes by following the step by step instructions provided without any structural changes being carried out to the hitch. Once the hitch has been made compatible the Towing Load Indicator can be simply attached to check the load balance each time the trailer is reloaded. |
